Today is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

Estelle, Manon and Frédérique told us their story.

Whether you are a man or a woman, if you like scientific challenges and if you want to contribute to the technological innovations of tomorrow, then you are made for research!

I chose science and research, because in my opinion science means understanding how things work and being able to act on them. For two years, I have been in charge of different projects aiming at developing new treatment methods in factories.

Surface Treatment Engineer

During my studies, I did not feel any difference, because there are as many girls as boys in the chemistry schools. But it is true that the field of metallurgy remains very masculine. I think that being a woman in this industry is rather a benefit.

When I was an engineering student, I was trained in surface treatment by LISI. After a one-year internship at LISI’s French research center, and then a six-month internship in their research center in California, I joined the team full-time. For four years, the proportion of women in our service has been gradually increasing.

Do not pay attention to statistics, do not create barriers yourself, trust yourself, and the success will follow!

For the past year and a half, I have been Laboratory Manager at LISI AEROSPACE, managing material and human resources. No one ever told me I was not shaped for science.
